Cookie Policy
The short version: this website sets no cookies at all. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixel and no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to. The detail below explains how that is possible and what is still transmitted when you load a page.
1. The short version
- We set no cookies — not strictly necessary ones, not analytics, not marketing.
- We write nothing to local storage or session storage. Dismissing the yellow banner lasts until you reload the page, and then it is forgotten.
- We use no analytics, no heatmaps, no advertising identifiers, no cross-site tracking of any kind.
- There is no cookie banner, because there is no non-essential storage to ask about.
- Loading a page does make one request to a third party: Google Fonts. That is disclosed in section 5, with the transfer it involves.
2. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to store and send back with each subsequent request. Local storage is a similar store that stays on your device and is not sent automatically. Both are useful for remembering preferences — and both are widely used to follow people between sites.
Under the ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR, storing information on a visitor's device generally requires consent unless it is strictly necessary to provide the service the visitor requested. We avoid the question entirely by not storing anything.
3. What this site stores
| Category | Used? | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary cookies | none | The site works without session state; there is nothing to keep. |
| Analytics cookies | none | We do not measure traffic, page views, referrers — or this site's conversion rate. |
| Advertising or profiling | none | No ad networks, no social embeds, no pixels. |
| Preference storage | none | No stored theme, language or layout preference — and no stored consent choice, for the reason above. |
| Session state | none | Nothing is written to localStorage or sessionStorage. |
You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, look at the Application or Storage panel while browsing, and the lists will be empty.
4. Why there is no consent banner
A consent banner is required when a site wants to do something a visitor has not asked for. We do not, so a banner would be a dark pattern in reverse: an interruption asking permission for nothing.
We also think this is simply better engineering. Tracking pixels and consent scripts are among the heaviest and most fragile parts of a modern website, and most of them exist to serve advertising nobody asked for.
Our commitment: if we ever add measurement of any kind, we will add it with a genuine opt-in gate first — not by quietly extending this policy to cover something already running.
5. Third-party requests
This site is served from our own domain and loads its styles and scripts from the same origin. The
one exception is the typeface. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts
(fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), which means your browser
connects to a Google server and your IP address and user-agent string are visible
to Google as part of that request.
- No cookie is set by the font request, and Google does not receive any identifier we hold about you.
- Google's handling of that data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- We consider this the weakest point in our otherwise empty storage posture, and self-hosting the fonts is on our list of things to fix. When it is done, this section will be replaced by a note saying so.
If you prefer to avoid the request entirely, blocking fonts.googleapis.com in your
browser will make the site fall back to your system fonts. The pages remain fully readable.
6. Server logs
Our hosting infrastructure records standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, requested path, response code and user agent — for security and operational purposes. These are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and diagnosing abuse, kept for a short operational window, and not used to build profiles or shared for marketing. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
7. Controlling cookies
You can manage or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can block third-party requests from specific domains. Instructions for the major browsers:
Since we store nothing, clearing cookies on this site will not change anything about how it behaves for you. There is no preference to lose.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and any change that introduces storage where there was none will be described explicitly rather than folded into a rewritten paragraph. Previous versions are available on request.
9. Contact
Questions about cookies, storage or privacy can go to privacy@autoscientia.com. Data-protection requests are handled under the process described in the Privacy Policy.

A website that stores nothing
It is a small thing, and it is the same instinct that governs how we treat experiment data: don't keep what you cannot justify.
